This is a Challenge Dayspool camera made by J. Lizars of Glasgow, dating from around 1904. It takes 3 1/4 inch by 4 1/4 inch frames on quarter plate roll film. For more information about the J. Lizars company, see here:

The shutter is by Bausch and Lomb and provides speeds from 1 sec to 1/100 sec plus T and B. The shutter has the inscription “Pat App’d” presumably marking this out as an early version (later versions have a patent date). The lens barrel has the inscription “3 1/4 x 4 1/4 PLANATOGRAPH”. The lens aperture varies from f/8 to f/128.
